Best places to visit in Abu Dhabi as emirate lifts Covid-19 travel restrictions

Abu Dhabi has lifted Covid-19 travel restrictions, with visitors no longer needing ‘green pass’ status proving they’re fully jabbed and PCR tested to access the emirate’s hotels, malls, restaurants and theme parks (although if you do take a test and it’s positive, you’re required to isolate for five days).

We’ve collated some of the best spots in Abu Dhabi to inspire your next group or private jet charter.

ENQUIRE NOW

Situated on the coast of the warm Persian Gulf, Abu Dhabi is a great stepping-stone between Qatar and Dubai. Often overshadowed by its more famous neighbours, the United Arab Emirates’ capital is packed with lavish hotels, gourmet restaurants and luxury shopping centres in addition to the thrills of Yas Island.

What to do in Abu Dhabi

Despite its relative youth as a tourist destination, there’s plenty to keep you occupied in Abu Dhabi. Yas Island is arguably the leading attraction, home to the Yas Marina Formula 1 circuit and Ferrari World. The city is also dotted with enormous multi-storey shopping complexes like Dalma Mall, Yas Mall and Deerfields Mall, while more traditional attractions include the spectacular Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and authentic souks.

Abu Dhabi’s culinary scene ranges from Michelin-starred eateries to local favourites. Many of the high-end restaurants can be found in big-name hotels, such as the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, while independent options include stylish Arabian restaurant Al Maqam.

Where to stay in Abu Dhabi

While it might not have the iconic structures that make Dubai’s skyline so recognisable, Abu Dhabi still has its fair share of luxury hotels, many of which sit out on Yas Island overlooking the world-famous racing track. Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi is probably the most famous, as it actually straddles the track and overlooks the marina – ideal for stays during the F1.

In the city itself and just a 10-minute drive from the airport and exhibition centre, the Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri has the best views of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Also nearby is the beachfront Jumeirah at Etihad Towers for unrivalled views of the Gulf.
